I first came to know about LTTE from Sri Lankan refugees who were our neighbors… Before getting into the subject let me start by listing things that admire about LTTE
- I think this long resistance by an organization which has been isolated by most of the countries and fight the army of a country is not a small task…
- Tremendous leadership skills of V.Prabakaran for creating such a group… Even if he is defeated and killed he has a place in history…
- Their never say die attitude… There are almost wiped off and still they are fighting till their last breath…
Now coming to the point “What this defeat of LTTE†means to Lanka, India and the world?
First we must know the method opted by LTTE is not right and they deserve this end… LTTE has created a face/image as if they are saviors of Tamil Eelam but there are lots of hidden truths… LTTE in itz early stages has killed many Tamil leaders to gain dominance in the region… So, Tamil’s in the region had no other option other than to join the force to fight for the rights…
I was an infant when Tamil – Sinhalese problems started… But I came across many stories, point of views & perceptions from Tamils and Sinhalese… I personally think Tamil’s in Sri Lanka must take lot of cues from India… Even India had itz own ethnic problem between Hindus & Muslims, Tamils & Kannadigas, Maratis & Biharis but still India copes up with this and still it is progressing…
Second point is where ever it is the minority community must learn to adjust/cope with the majority community (This might sound controversial) but I believe in my statements…
What every the case may be I wish this end of LTTE must bring peace and prosperity to the Sri Lanka… We must not loose an island which is known for its natural beauty and a culture which is fun filled…

Yes, there must be some end and peace at last. End to LTTE is ok but I expect Sri Lankan government to treat Tamilians with respect, treat them equally and give all rights due to them.
Yes you are right… but as i told we cant expect equal rights as tamils are minority… but there is no harn in expecting respect…
minorities should get equal right in a truly democratic country. if not their fight till success or death is justified. of course this is personal choice and we can agree to disagree with our opinions.
Friends,
I am a sinhalese and i totally agree with ur view. Prabakaran is a leader in the eague of Hitler, Napoleon, Starlin.
But he is also a blood thirsty vampire who has killed more tamils than sinhalese while trying to appear as their saviour.
The tamils have equal rights in Srilanka and we beleive that “United we stand , Divided we fall”
The proof to this is seen as over 30% of population of colombo is tamil….
Dear Hasala,
Hope the end of srilanka brings peace and prosperity to Sri Lanks

hi all
i think .. it ill be good for peace but the tamil people should get their rights do not lead them as slave.First of all we have to think abt prabhakaran. if he is started this war for power he could keep his family is US, why he want to loose their family in lanka??..so he always trying to have independent tamil elzham, that is not bad..because initially the rights has been restricted to all tamil people in lanka… so prabhakaran’s aim is right but the way he chosed is wrong…
Nice blog Anand. As for ur views on the Lankan Tamils issue, i can see that u have made a wrong comparison when u speak abt Indian Tamils and Lankan Tamils. In India, despite the population of Tamils being only 6 % we have been able to protect our language and our cultural identity to some extent, which certainly is not the case in SriLanka, where our population is like somewhere around 30%(correct me if i’m wrong).
This is something akin to the French population in Canada, a country where French and English are treated equally. What is wrong in Tamils expecting that kind of an equal treatment?
And if u read history, u cannot overlook the pogroms against Tamils. the kidnappings, rapes, brutal tortures…
The fact is, as Indian Tamils, we have just connived with the central govt., just forgetting our real cultural identity is Tamil and now we are finding all sorts of reasons to justify our impotent behavior.
Hope i have not offended you. Thanks for reading…
Dear Vignesh,
i just conveyed my point and you have all right for post your opinion… I personally feel India has a great Cultural heritage. i never look things as a Tamalian as i love to be an Indian.
Thank you for your comment.

Anand
