10 steps to create Corporate Culture

  1. Don’t talk about people, talk to people.
  2. Communicate in a respectful manner. If you are too mad to be respectful, calm down before addressing the problem.
  3. Yelling is not acceptable.
  4. Do not “air our dirty laundry” in public. If you have a problem with someone, speak with them behind closed doors.
  5. Be mindful of who is listening. Close doors or lower your voice (or the volume on your speaker phone) as necessary.
  6. Don’t be a “bully” to others, particularly those in jobs subordinate to us. We address problems with the appropriate person in an appropriate manner..
  7. Don’t preach desired behavior; rather practice desired behavior. People will form their opinions of us not just in terms of how we treat them, but how they see us treating others. Additionally, remember that our team members are our internal customers. They will treat our external customers the way that we treat them.
  8. Do not perpetuate problems through gossip. Just to make sure we’re on the same page, gossip is defined as, “idle talk or rumor, especially about the personal or private affairs of others” or “a report (often malicious) about the behavior of other people”. Do not spread rumors. Address issues then move on.
  9. Do not speak negatively of others, of the company, or of the company policies to those “outside the team” or to other team members.
  10. Always ask these questions when a problem occurs:
  • “Why did this problem occur? Why did this person make a mistake?”
  •  “What could I have done to prevent this problem? Was it a lack of communication on my part?”
  • “Did I fully explain my expectations?”
  • “How would I want to be treated in this situation?”

Our job is always going to be tough, with unexpected crises popping up, but we don’t need to make it tougher by bringing unnecessary drama and stress into the workplace. Let’s all do our part to reach the goals of the organization, and help to change corporate culture one person at a time, starting with ourselves.

Explaining Love & Marriage – Nice examples

A student asks a teacher, “What is love?”

The teacher said, “in order to answer your question, go to the wheat field and choose the biggest wheat and come back.

But the rule is: you can go through them only once and cannot turn back to pick.”

The student went to the field, go thru first row, he saw one big wheat, but he wonders….may be there is a bigger one later.

Then he saw another bigger one… But may be there is an even bigger one waiting for him.

Later, when he finished more than half of the wheat field, he start to realize that the wheat is not as big as the previous one he saw, he know he has missed the biggest one, and he regretted.

So, he ended up went back to the teacher with empty hand.

The teacher told him, “…this is love… You keep looking for a better one, but when later you realise, you have already miss the person….”

“What is marriage then?” the student asked.

The teacher said, “in order to answer your question, go to the corn field and choose the biggest corn and come back. But the rule is: you can go through them only once and cannot turn back to pick.”

The student went to the corn field, this time he is careful not to repeat the previous mistake, when he reach the middle of the field, he has picked one medium corn that he feel satisfy, and come back to the teacher..

The teacher told him, “this time you bring back a corn…. You look for one that is just nice, and you have faith and believe this is the best one you get…. This is marriage.”

Funny GYM experience

One fat guy – goes to a popular GYM seeing an ad for a new gym guaranteeing to reduce anyone’s weight by 5, 10 or 20 kilograms on the first day. So he goes and tells them he wants to lose 5 kg. ! They lead him into a huge gym with all kinds of ropes and parallel bars and ladders and tell him to wait a minute.

He’s standing there when on the far side of the gym a door opens and out steps a beautiful girl, with a sign saying

” If you catch me, I’m yours.”

He starts running, and just as he gets close, she starts picking up speed.

Before he knows it, he’s running all over the gym, up the ladders, down the ladders, across the parallel bars, here and there. And just as he’s about to catch the blonde, pop, she disappears through a door. In comes the management who lead him to the showers, and then weigh him. Sure enough, he lost exactly 5 kg.

He’s back on the street and starts to think.

“Jesus, I was so close to catching her. If I had a little more time…”

So he races back to the gym and says, “I want to lose 20 more kg.”

“No problem,” says the manager.

Again he is led to the large gym. This time he’s standing by the door when it opens….

Out comes a Gorilla with a sign.

“If I catch you, you’re mine .”

NEVER CRY FOR ANY RELATION

Once, there was guy, who was in love with a girl. She wasn’t the most beautiful and rocking but for him, she was everything.

He used to dream about her, about spending the rest of life with her. His friends told him, “why do you dream so much about her, when you don’t even know if she loves you or not?
First tell her your feelings, and get to know if she likes you or not”.
He felt that was the right way. The girl knew that this guy loves her.

One day when he proposed, she rejected him.

His friends thought he would take wrong decision and ruin his life.
To their surprise, he was not depressed.
When they asked him how was it that he is not sad, he replied,

“‘Why should I feel bad? I lost one who never loved me & she lost the one who really loved and cared for her.”

NEVER CRY FOR ANY RELATION IN LIFE BECAUSE

FOR THE ONE WHOM YOU CRY

DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR TEARS AND THE ONE WHO DESERVES

WILL NEVER LET YOU CRY………………..!!!!!

Toddy Tasting

When ever I’m in Madurai one thing I never miss tastes Padaneer (Palm Wine). I can’t say tasting as I use to have 4-5 glass of it mainly to beat the heat wave. Palm wine is a seasonal drink which is available between March – June of every year.

DSC01198DSC01203I normally go to this vendor in the picture to have the drink and he has become my friend. It is sad that he will have his shop only for next one week as season has come to and end. The real fun in having padaneer from his shop is the consuming it the traditional way palm leaf along with Palm jelly and one must experience the taste.

The person who sells this drink says he use to lease some 100 trees from government and is producing this Palm Wine. He says they are into this business for last 40 years and it was started during his father’s days and he has taken over from his father for last two years. He says he will be into this business for 3 months and remaining 9 months he works as a Painter in Coimbatore.

He says when he was a kid palm trees and tree climbers were in abundant. Because of this demand for pal was very less. But over the times palm trees have drastically come down because of highway projects, road widening, canal projects etc.

Also palm tree climbers have started taking other profession as the scope for this profession is not that exciting. So he says demand for Palm wine / Jelly has risen drastically.

My body is prone to heat boils during summer. Since this drink is not available in Chennai normally I use to have Jaljeera water & Cucumber a lot. But this time in Madurai I has real Palm wine for the first time and also drank to the extent I wanted to. It really helped to cool down my body heat and prevented me from heat boils this time. Let me cherish this wonderful drink to the maximum until it comes to a close for the season.

One day happiness!!!

I generally have liking for pets, birds and fish. Of those three I was a fish breeder and I’ve had enough experience when it comes to fish. Regarding pet also i went against my mom and brought my present companion Mr.Burger Boy by beloved doggie.

But birds was a distant dream coz I new my mom will go crazy if I bring one as my mom is against caging birds. So, I didn’t have it even in the corner of my heard to have one. But here in Madurai I’m all alone and I can live a life which I love. Simply here in Madurai I’m what I’m.

So in a fraction of a minute while driving home I thought I must buy a bird and immediately I enquired where I can get birds in Madurai. I was told it is available in market and immediately I went to birds market. I was amazed to see different varieties of birds.

In the stack I really like this particular variety of bird called Cockatiel it looked really loveable and the shop keeper told me it costs Rs.1000/- and the cage will cost Rs.350/- without any bargain or thinking I collected cast from ATM and brought the birds and kept it in my cabin yesterday night.

Night I spent mostly playing with them and in spite of warning from shop keeper not to catch the bird until it gets connected with me. He said by feeding and talking to it daily will make it get accustomed with me and it will come without any fear.

But out of excitement I tried to catch one from cage and brought it out. In the process I didn’t know how to catch it and I caught it using itz tail and when it tried to fly the tail came out separately in my hand. I got scared upon enquiring I was told tail will grow in 2 – 3 months time and only then I got relieved from the guilt of hurting a bird. Then in the process to catch it back and put it in the cage became a tedious process and when I tried to catch it, it bit my fingers strongly eventually leading to bleeding.

Then I went for dinner and for a movie with a happily. In the morning that happiness was short lived. My HR Mr.Boopathi said having caged birds will bring bad vibes and he said that is not good. Also I got same thought from Major’s mom. Though I don’t buy their point as the shop keeper who sold me the bird makes a living by selling these birds. Also some of my friends are having caged birds from my childhood days and they are doing well.

But I didn’t want to hurt their sentiments and decided to give those birds. And fortunately my office admin said he has liking for such birds and he said he will take care of it. Atleast I was happy that bird is in the hands of someone who is really close and I can get a peep at it when ever I think.

So my happiness is not very short lived and it didn’t last even a day but I have a contention that I was a proud owner of two loveable birds for at least 4 – 5 hours.

So these are some snaps taken and you can have a look at my cute babies which I gave for adoption :( …

Key things for entrepreneurs!!!

Key things for entrepreneurs to watch-for are the following:

Wrong People

Keep away from Naysayers, Doomsayers and Burned People.

Focus on interacting with the right people, those who’ve been there and done what you’re trying to achieve. Wannabes are also helpful cos’ they want you to win as that will help them to do well too. These people can also be very encouraging and helpful.

Information Overload

If you go on the internet, just about any belief one has, positive or negative, they are all supported. So just be careful what kind of information you access, cos’ even negative thoughts will find support on the internet.

Instead interact with and get advice from the right people and use the internet to support it or for further research. Right people can also be found in the form of books written by people who you may not personally have access to, or who may have passed away.

Small Thinking

You must start thinking HUGE! One always finds what one is most focused on, irrespective of whether they are positive thoughts, or fears and doubts.

Stopped Learning

Need to be constantly learning new things as everything is changing at a rapid pace. Have to focus on learning and growing constantly as an entrepreneur.

I’m always right

It’s a blessing to know that one is not “always” right, cos’ that’s when we’ll be willing to learn and grow.
